Programs

Strength/Cardio Class

A high-energy workout that combines resistance training with cardiovascular exercise for a complete fitness experience. This class uses our state-of-the-art Keiser® strength equipment, weights, resistance bands, and bodyweight exercises interspersed with cardio intervals on treadmills, stationary bikes, rowers, and ellipticals to build muscle strength while improving stamina and burning calories. Suitable for all fitness levels with modifications available.

Boxing

A dynamic, full-body workout focused on boxing techniques and conditioning. Participants learn proper punching form, footwork, and defensive moves while improving coordination, agility, and core strength. Classes typically include shadowboxing, partner drills, and bag work, delivering both technical skills and an intense cardiovascular workout.

PWR! Moves®

A Parkinson specific exercise class that makes “makes function exercise” to keep you moving and doing more of what you want to do! As you practice, you will be challenged physically and cognitively while working on fitness goals: strength, balance, agility, aerobics, and flexibility. Exercises are designed to improve your fitness, counteract your PD symptoms, and increase your daily activity. This whole body function-focused exercise class will push you to do more than you think you can in a fun, empowering, and enriched environment.

Better Every Day™ (BED)

InMotion’s signature exercise program. Classes focus on movement, function, mobility, balance, endurance, and strength. BED™ helps clients feel better every day by improving performance with daily tasks, building strength and confidence, and maintaining independence.

Walking Classes

Structured group walking sessions designed to promote cardiovascular health and community connection. These classes vary from leisurely paced walks for beginners to power walking sessions with intervals and terrain challenges for more advanced participants. Members have the option to use activator poles to incorporate proper walking technique, improved posture, and increased arm swing.

Spinning

Get ready to pedal your way to fitness in our high-energy Spinning class! This indoor cycling workout combines cardiovascular endurance, strength training, and mental motivation in one dynamic session. Each class is designed to challenge riders of all fitness levels, as you control your own resistance and pace.

Art Workshop

Unleash your creativity while supporting fine motor skills and cognitive function in our therapeutic Art Workshop. This welcoming class provides a supportive environment where participants explore various artistic mediums including watercolors, pastels, clay work, and collage. Our experienced art therapist guides projects specifically designed to improve hand dexterity, visual-spatial processing, and self-expression. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, you’ll discover the joy of creating while building confidence and connecting with others. Art supplies are provided, and every masterpiece is celebrated. The focus is on the process, not perfection, making this a stress-free zone for artistic exploration and personal growth.

Brain Builder

Challenge and strengthen your cognitive abilities in our stimulating Brain Builder class. This program combines mental exercises, puzzles, memory games, and problem-solving activities specifically designed for individuals with Parkinson’s. Our trained facilitators lead engaging sessions that target attention, processing speed, working memory, and executive function. Activities range from word games and number puzzles to strategic thinking challenges and memory techniques. The collaborative environment encourages social interaction while participants work individually and in small groups. Brain Builder sessions are both fun and purposeful, helping maintain mental sharpness while building confidence in cognitive abilities.

Handwriting

Rediscover the joy of clear, confident writing in our specialized Handwriting class. Led by occupational therapists and physical therapists who understand the unique challenges Parkinson’s presents to fine motor control, this class focuses on improving letter formation, pen control, and writing fluency. Participants practice techniques to manage micrographia (small handwriting) and learn adaptive strategies using specialized tools and exercises. The class covers both cursive and print writing, proper posture and grip techniques, and practical applications for daily life such as signing documents and writing notes. Progress is celebrated at every level, and participants often rediscover the satisfaction of legible, purposeful writing.

Speech Classes

 Find your voice and project with confidence in The LOUD Crowd®, our specialized speech therapy class designed to combat the soft voice (hypophonia) common in Parkinson’s. This energetic group session combines vocal exercises, breathing techniques, and articulation practice in a supportive, encouraging environment. Participants engage in vocal warm-ups, reading exercises, singing, and conversation practice while learning to speak with intention and volume. Our speech-language pathologist guides the group through evidence-based techniques to improve vocal loudness, clarity, and expression. The class emphasizes that speaking loudly isn’t shouting—it’s about finding your strong, clear voice and using it confidently in daily communication.

Voice Group

Join our welcoming choir designed specifically for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. This therapeutic music program combines the joy of singing with targeted vocal exercises that can help improve speech clarity, breathing control, and overall quality of life.

Our experienced instructor understands the unique challenges of Parkinson’s and creates a supportive environment where participants can strengthen their voices while building community connections. No previous singing experience is required – just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to explore the healing power of music together.

Sessions focus on breath support, vocal projection, and rhythm exercises that may help with speech and swallowing difficulties commonly associated with Parkinson’s. Beyond the therapeutic benefits, you’ll discover the pure joy of making music with others who share similar experiences.

All voices are welcome, and accommodations are made for varying mobility levels. Family members and caregivers are invited to participate or observe.

Yoga

A gentle yet effective practice combining physical postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness to support overall well-being. At The Kirk Gibson Center, our yoga classes are tailored to accommodate all abilities, with special attention to those managing neurological conditions. Sessions focus on improving flexibility, balance, and strength while reducing stress and enhancing body awareness. Our experienced instructors offer modifications and support to ensure everyone benefits from this ancient healing practice in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Dance for PD®

An artistic and therapeutic dance program specifically designed for people with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. These joyful sessions harness the power of music and movement to address Parkinson’s-specific concerns such as balance, coordination, and range of motion. Led by specially trained instructors, Dance for PD classes at The Kirk Gibson Center offer participants an uplifting opportunity to express themselves creatively while engaging in beneficial physical activity. The seated and standing routines are accessible to all mobility levels and emphasize the emotional and social benefits of dancing together.

Tai Chi

A meditative movement practice rooted in ancient Chinese tradition, adapted to support neurological health and overall wellness. Our Tai Chi classes feature slow, flowing sequences that improve balance, reduce fall risk, and promote relaxation. The Kirk Gibson Center’s approach emphasizes the mind-body connection through controlled breathing and graceful movements that can be performed standing or seated. Regular practice has been shown to help manage symptoms of various conditions while fostering a sense of tranquility and focused awareness.

Pilates

A comprehensive body conditioning system that strengthens core muscles while improving posture, flexibility, and body awareness. The Kirk Gibson Center’s Pilates classes feature adaptable exercises that focus on precise, controlled movements and proper breathing techniques. Particularly beneficial for those with neurological conditions, our Pilates program helps develop stability, coordination, and functional strength for everyday activities. Qigong

Experience slow, flowing Qigong movements designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. This ancient practice combines gentle exercises with deep breathing to help improve balance, flexibility, and reduce stiffness.

Our certified instructor adapts movements for all mobility levels, offering both seated and standing options. Meditative movements can help with coordination, posture, and stress reduction while building confidence and community connections. Participants often report better sleep, improved mood, and increased stability.
