The Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson's Wellness is a state-of-the-art facility located in Farmington Hills, Michigan. It is the first of its kind in Michigan offering daily programs and activities free of charge to people living with Parkinson's disease, their families and caregivers. The Center is a beacon of hope, help, and inspiration for those battling the disease. It provides a community of support and compassion while also researching and developing better movement-based programs. Over 60,000 class hours are projected each year. The Center is funded and supported by the Kirk Gibson Foundation.

Position Summary

The Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness is recruiting qualified part-time and hourly, contracted Coaches to join our team. In this role, you will lead exercise classes that improve the mobility, balance, strength, and overall quality of life for those living with Parkinson’s.

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate exercise programs designed specifically to address Parkinson’s symptoms
  • Create class environments that are engaging, safe and supportive to all participants
  • Collaborate with various healthcare specialists to ensure holistic participant care
  • Keep current on the latest research and developments regarding exercise and its impact on Parkinson’s
Required Qualifications
  • Nationally Accredited Certification as fitness instructor or Bachelor degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related health field
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Limited liability insurance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialized certification in exercise programming for Parkinson’s (e.g. PWR! LSVT BIG)
  • Experience teaching group classes
